Millie’s Prescription for maintaining a healthy voice.

 

  • Keep hydrated. (8 glasses of water a day would be great).

 

  • Tip #1: Avoid caffeine, alcohol and carbonated beverages

 

  • Tip #2: Avoid cough drops with menthol, caffeine and alcohol.

 

  • Breathe through your nose when possible.

 

  • Listen much–speak little. (Excessive yelling and screaming at sports events and talking over loud environmental noise is not beneficial if you want to maintain a rested, ready-to-go voice.)

 

  • Don’t sing too long or too loud. (Each voice is different as to its endurance) Error on the side of too little.

 

  • Don’t smoke anything.

 

  • Your body needs an adequate amount of sleep and so does your voice.
